My name is Martin and I am a fourth-year Biophysics student at UBC. In my high school life, I found it hard to appreciate and like math. Algebra and numbers were confusing and tough to grasp. However, transitioning into university taught me values and ideas that I wished to learn sooner. Teaching younger students who may not like math the essentials is something I wish was once done to me. Aside from math, I enjoy playing jazz guitar, work on physics and algorithmic computer science, and workout. Much of which was influenced by my love of math!

I’m a Computer Systems graduate from BCIT. While I haven’t always liked math, things changed in my early elementary school years when a classmate’s enthusiasm for math sparked my interest. Once I got a solid understanding of the fundamentals, I began viewing math problems as challenges rather than chores. This shift in perspective not only helped me excel in math but also in school overall. Eventually, I earned recognition in a national Math Olympiad, showcasing my newfound passion.
